Good idea. :)
Maybe you could add the feed link thingummy to the page source? You know, this sort of thing:
Code:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="MaxCoderz RSS Feed" href="rss.php">

It makes noticing and subscribing to the feed a little easier.

I mean, if you add that snippet of HTML then the browser will display notification that the page has an RSS feed, either as an icon in the right hand side of the address bar (Opera, Firefox) or as a new button on the toolbar (Internet Explorer). :)

No, it doesn't. ;) (I only saw the icon on the left, and that's what I thought you were referring to).

That seems to be a frames issue.

Does this mean there will be more news posts?

Yes, i'll change the "refer" options than.

Try http://kvince83.tengun.net/maxboard/fp.php instead :) that should work.

Edit: Changed it. Should work within 24 hours.

No, but the new news sytem (just making a post in the forum) makes it more easy to post news, and that's why there will propably more news items :)

Time for a necropost, I'm afraid; I've updated the RSS feed script and linked it to the site template.

Hopefully we'll have more use for it this year. :)

I wonder if there is a MaxCoderz RSS feed available that lists new forum posts? (or the latest active threads, like search.php?search_id=newposts )?

I have an active TI calculator channel where Netham45 added a bot that notifies us when there are new posts on United-TI, TI-Freakware, Cemetech and Omnimaga. For Cemetech and Omnimaga, it grabs new posts from RSS feeds and for UTI it grabs the Today's Active Topic list. However, the later method is not very reliable, because it is bandwidth-intensive. Since it would be nice to have MaxCoderz in as well, I wondered if there was a new posts RSS feed available so the bot doesn't need to go through the search.php?search_id=newposts page? Currently, Netham45 had to disable the TI-Freakware notifier, the most inactive of all, because just UTI and TIFW alone eaten like 75% of his monthly bandwidth.

Since the IRC channel is useable directly on Omnimaga website when logged in, members who have it maximized also gets notified of new posts on the forums the bot checks. Since Omnimaga forums currently have a lot of activity (31500 posts in 2010), the notifier bot brings traffic to other sites as well. Sadly, the cost is the bandwidth, so this is why I was asking if there was a RSS feed available. If there isn't it's fine, though, but then Netham45 would need to setup the bot to check for new posts like twice a day, so if at one point MaxCoderz got an activity spike, a lot of new posts would get missed (since the bot can only grab the very last one everytime)

There isn't one to my knowledge, sorry. You'd need to get in touch with kv83 as he's the only one with access to the FTP account.
